        Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson, three buddies from high school, established Linkin Park. The three went to Agoura High School in the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills, California. The three recruited Joe Hahn, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to play in their band, which was then known as Xero, after beginning to take their musical interests more seriously following their high school graduation. Despite having little means, the band started writing songs and producing them in Shinoda's makeshift bedroom studio in 1996. This led to the creation of the four-track demo album Xero, which was published in November 1997.
