Why did they give their group the name "Alabama"? Alabama is a American country band. The founder of the band is randy Owen and his cousin teddy Gentry. The band was formed in fort Payne, Alabama. You know, Alabama is the state of the America. The band of Alabama was named from them, because of there birth state. And also Alabama state is an area with strong country music roots. First of all the band name is not Alabama. There first name was wild country. They changed there name as a Alabama after they make there original songs.
